An appeal on BBC Crimewatch to help identify who was responsible for an armed robbery in Aldershot, has generated further information for detectives working on the case.
The appeal was in relation to an armed robbery at Deane Wood scrap metal dealers on the Stubbs Industrial Estate on Friday, October 7, 2011. Shortly before midday, a man wearing a balaclava approached a service desk at the scrap metal dealer and threatened the cashier with a gun demanding she hand over money.
The man managed to grab a cash box and then ran into a waiting green Vauxhall Vectra car. Officers believe there were other people in the Vectra with the man. The Vectra was found on fire in a wooded area in Lock Road, Aldershot, shortly after the incident. It is believed that the occupants of the Vectra left the scene of the fire in another vehicle, yet to be identified. It is now also known that the cash box was a red metal box. Officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have found this discarded in the area.
The appeal featured on Crimewatch on Tuesday, May 1. Detective Constable Andy Grieve took calls live in the studio and a small team of officers answered calls at Aldershot Police Station. |
