About RNWA

The Rushmoor Neighbourhood Watch Association - RNWA is a joint collaboration between the Police, Rushmoor council and the residents of Rushmoor, to monitor and help reduce crime in the community.

Goals and Aims

  • Help the police in their roles of: Crime prevention, Crime detection and resolution
  • Alert community services (& police) of: Anti-social behaviour, Community problems (eg: streetlights, paths.)
  • Be good neighbours and keeping an eye out for unusual events in you area.

How we do it

RNWA is based on the Police Beat Areas of Aldershot and Farnborough. Usually one or two people from a road or street will act as a coordinator for that community. The Coordinators will generally provide a communications channel between the community, the council and the police. This still means that members of that community should continue to deal with these agencies as they need, but the coordinators are able to provide advanced warning of any problems that are detected. And, of course, it works the other way: - the coordinators meet the agencies twice a year, to discuss any issues in the Rushmoorwatch area and to report any persistent problems. The Bi-annual meetings are convened by a chairman elected from the ranks of the coordinators.

Communication is at the heart of Neighbourhood Watch. In general we live in a low crime area, so there is not usually much going on. In these times we can get along with the occasional meeting of fellow coordinators and the leafleting of the community. Email is now playing such a big part in our lives that we are using this to do multi mailings to our communities. And, on the occasions where it is necessary to get information out fast we use a Coordinators ring-round scheme.

If you want details on the scheme or how to join an email listing then please contact the RNWA Chairman . Your email address will not be divulged to anyone outside the Rushmoorwatch scheme
